Unveiling the Secret Kingdom: Exploring the Fascinating World of Plants

Increase students curiosity about the incredible variety of life forms that make up the plant kingdom. Uncover the secrets of multicellular organisms. Students will learn to identify and categorize different plant types, from mosses and ferns to flowering plants and conifers. Explore their own neighborhood to spot fascinating plant specimens and enhance your classification skills. Through research and dissection, they will gain insights into the unique features of plants and compare their inner structures. Students will be amazed by the special adaptations that enable plants to survive in diverse habitats!

Learning Intention:

Students will learn about the types of multicellular organisms that make up the kingdom of plants.

Success Criteria:

  • recognize plants as belonging to one of four categories
  • determine the category type of specific plants
  • recognize different plant types in the neighborhood and classify according to category
  • research a plant to determine its name, type, and label its parts
  • dissect two plants and compare their inner structure
  • conduct an experiment to understand a plant’s vascular system
  • identify and describe special adaptations of certain plants
